Fes: Beware of the Cactus Fruit

Close to New Year’s, my family headed to the beautiful Fes. We visited carpenters set up in gold dusted alleyways:

And saw butchers and fish sellers, plying their wares from bulb-lit chambers.

We also found cactus fruit.

Somewhat like hard tomatoes filled with pumpkin seeds, I felt these were more like vegetables than fruits, and limited my consumption… with happy outcomes. As cactus fruit is recommended against diarrhea, my intrepid family happily ate these, and later experienced some difficulties with the porcelain throne.

My brother, though, was fine.
